Hilary Picton: This match was so closely contested that the final point was decided at 3 minutes before the lights went off at 10pm! Tavistock's Lindsey was suffering with a chest infection that had kept her up most of the night but she was determined to play and was grateful for partner Lucy's support and encouragement as she struggled with her game. Tavi's second pair of Hilary Broadley and Karen Robinson had two very long rubbers winning the first in a deciding tiebreak and losing the second also in the same manner. Di and Henrietta for Yelverton played very well with Henrietta's powerful groundstrokes allowing Di to play her wonderful touch at net while Julie and Katrina fought valiantly before going down in both rubbers. The nets were definitely on the side of Yelverton with countless balls just falling over onto Tavi's court, most being unreturnable. A great match played in great spirit.
